Most other online publications are way past writing about Christmas collections and are already on gift guides but, as you know, I’m a stickler on the no-Christmas-before-advent rule and have managed to mostly contain my excitement until today (and doesn’t it make it all the more exciting when Christmas kicks off on the first of December? I think so).
For those of you hankering after some beauty ideas for loved ones – they are on their way. First, let me share some highlights from the collection that’s had me chomping at the bit. It’s the most impressive one I’ve seen and is extremely affordable to boot. Make-up lovers: meet my top picks from the Bourjois Christmas collection:
Bourjois Rouge Edition Velvet Lipstick in Happy Nude Year and Hot Pepper, £8.99 here / These lipsticks stay put for an awfully long time and yet have none of the drying properties than generally put me off long-wear make-up. Also, the finish is neither matte nor overly shiny. If you’re a fan of a done lip, these will be your best friends at Christmas parties.
– Bourjois Mega Liner Dark Black, £7.49 here / Liquid eyeliners in pen form fall down on two counts: they either aren’t black as black can be or they exacerbate a slightly wobbly application technique. This one is properly black and the firm, slanted nib means that you can simply press the pen against your lash line and then pick it up and move along (therefore not relying at all upon steady strokes).
– Bourjois Colour Edition 24h Eyeshadow in Marron Givre, £6.99 here / I’ve previously rhapsodised on this one here. It still has me in its thrall. Glittery, but still sophisticated, this eyeshadow is my go-to when I’m strapped for time. Also – and regular readers will know I rarely say this – you can apply with fingertips for a nice, diffused smoky eye.
