Instant Skin Pick-Me-Ups / Benefit Puff Off & REN Instant Beauty Shot

My time at work is spent in a heated or air-conditioned room primarily plonked in front of a computer, which is hardly conducive to healthy skin. In order to fight the look of fatigue by the end of the day and keep skin hydrated, I always have a face mist to hand.

Said mist may now be redundant as a new wave of products designed to be used throughout the day are about to hit the market. The first two efforts of 2015 may well have answered my skin’s prayers – both are skin pick-me-ups and make-up refreshers in one.

Benefit Puff Off Review

BENEFIT PUFF OFF // The idea behind this one is that the combination of eye gel and the cooling action of tapping the cutesy iron-shaped applicator under the eye will depuff and rehydrate the area. The formula also contains very subtle light-reflective pigments to add to luminosity.

MY THOUGHTS / I’ve had this in my make-up bag over the Christmas season and have really enjoyed the sensation of putting it on when at my desk – the combination of the cool gel and applicator really does soothe and slightly de-puff tired eyes. It does a good job of brightening the skin under the eyes thanks to the subtly pearlescent particles in the gel and I’ve also noticed that fine lines are diminished after applying. Top marks for its make-up reviving abilities, too – it doesn’t make concealer disappear, instead rendering it creamy and more uniform once more.

LAUNCH DATE / Benefit Puff Off will launch here in February 2015 and costs £22.50 for 10ml.

REN Keep Young and Beautiful Instant Firming Beauty Shot

REN INSTANT BEAUTY FLASH // This hyaluronic-rich gel-serum is designed to firm, lift and plump. It can be patted on over make-up to refresh both make-up and skin or applied as a serum (over toner, under moisturiser) to encourage firmness and moisturise skin.

MY THOUGHTS / My first note on this is all about the texture – it’s lightweight and almost instantly absorbed, though leaves skin slightly tacky. This tackiness is the only thing that doesn’t endear this to me – my preference is a satin or slick finish. On the performance front, however, I can’t fault it – the firming part of the name is all true (skin seemed tighter – in a good way – and smoother almost instantly). Equally, it seems to be a competent moisturising serum, plumping and smoothing skin thanks to the dose of hydration. When applying over make-up, be careful to pat, not rub to avoid making foundation slide around the face.

LAUNCH DATE / REN Keep Young & Beautiful Firming and Smoothing Serum will launch here in February 2015 and costs £46 for 30ml.
