OOTDs / From Austria to Mayfair in One Weekend

Tweet | Facebook | Email

On Thursday night, I went to Tiroler Hut for a nightcap with an old friend. A bit on my favourite place in London before I go on: Dad opened The Hut in 1967 and has been greeting and entertaining customers with his famous cowbell show – that he also performed on Britain’s Got Talent this year – ever since. Want a swanky restaurant? This ain’t it: The Hut is about charm and having a proper knees up. It’s the perfect antidote to teeny tiny artfully-presented plates of fancy foods you’ll never be able to pronounce (though try saying Schweinsbraten after a stein or two and see how you get on)…

So, there I was, casually sipping some gin when my sister asked if I’d cover for her so she could swan off to Mykonos for the weekend. Happy on liquor, I agreed – nay, encouraged her – without considering the altruism/idiocy of giving up the bank holiday weekend to pour beer. Come Friday night, I was trussed up in a dirndl, wielding schnapps glasses and generally dashing around in a flap like one of the poor waitresses in Coyote Ugly who doesn’t get to dance on the bar to Blondie. Here’s that look:

Now, onto Sunday. As I had a pedicure in the Liberty London branch of Margaret Dabbs booked (this explains the slathering of Savlon around my toenails in the below picture), I wanted to look halfway presentable for my favourite shop, only without making much of an effort – the late night had left me feeling perilously tired. Enter double denim, gold strappy sandals and a rucksack…
