The ubiquitous MAC don’t just release the odd new palette or lipstick – oh no, they go to town with new ranges and collaborations galore, churning out collectable make-up and thrilling day-to-day classics you wish they’d add to the permanent collection (but rarely do). Here’s the lowdown on their newest launches – if you like something you see, I suggest you snap it up before it goes…
MAC VIVA GLAM MILEY CYRUS 2 // The matte Bright Orange Lipstick and Bright Orange with Sparkling Pearl Lipglass in this second wave of Viva Glam products don’t only raise funds for a really good cause (the full RRP goes towards helping women, men and children who are living with and affected by HIV/AIDS), but are also both deliciously bright orange and will please you wearers of the more vivid end of the lipstick spectrum.
MAC HAUTE DOGS // Remember that scene in 101 Dalmatians where dogs and their owners pootle around looking exactly the same? That’s this collection’s vibe – it wants to emulate in make-up the rich, luscious colours reminiscent of a Labrador’s glossy coat or buttery caramels of a Yorkie. The range is extensive, but my highlights are the Rare Breed lipstick (the perfect nude) and two of the Mineralize Eye Shadow x 4 – Posh Pedigree (cool tones) and Pure Bred (warmer, with a nice – and very current – russet in there).
MAC TREND FORECAST SPRING 16 LIP / This trend prediction (/setting) palette is just doing it for me at the moment: on the left there’s a line of girly, putty pinky shades with violet undertones, while on the right you have the brightest of bright mid and deep oranges along with a wine colour. As these aren’t on a bullet, I tap them onto my lips and build to the intensity I’d like. The finish is semi-glossy.
MAC MONEY HONEY EYE GLOSS / Eye gloss is back! I was only bemoaning the decline of my old 90s favourite to make-up artist Sonia Deveney on the Seychelles trip a mere few months ago and am delighted that the make-up Gods/MAC seemed to be listening. So – very gold, very glossy. The sheer wash offers light, sexy reflectiveness, but you can do as dramatic as you’d like. N.B. If you’ve very hooded lids, I’d recommend steering clear – it is a touch sticky and may make blinking a bit of a challenge.
