Newness / All Things Bourjois

This new whammy of things by Bourjois is very pleasing if you like texturally divergent make-up for a bargain – they’ve played with light-reflectiveness, glitter, shimmer and matte finishes to make their autumn offerings (due out on the 30th of September here) rather interesting indeed. Here’s the lowdown //

Bourjois Rouge Edition Velvet

THE NEW ROUGE EDITION VELVETS / The new additions to the rouge velvet range are Plum Plum Girl (on the left on my hand) and Fu(n)chsia (on the right). Those of you who’ve tried these will know that they’re exceptionally well formulated – very creamy and yet a true velvet matte that miraculously doesn’t sink into cracks. My money would go towards the plum offering (and may have to – my sister swiped mine the minute she saw it)…

Bourjois Air Mat Review

THE AIR MAT FOUNDATION / This initially feels like a mousse when you smooth it onto skin. Once on, the ‘whipped’ sensation remains apparent – this is a foundation that’s lightweight and definitely subtly mattifying (less matte than a powder finish, more matte than a mineral base), but never fully fuses with the skin in the way a liquid foundation does.

I like it if I’ve got to run out the door (this + concealer = done), but if I had time I’d still prefer to do things properly with a powder etc as I prefer the finish. It comes in 8 shades – I’ve got Vanilla and Light Beige and sit right between the two.

Bourjois Eyeshadow

THE NEW LITTLE ROUND POT / Gone are the silly foam applicators that no one ever used and in are a new raft of colours in myriad finishes. Left to right here are 01 Matte Beige in Ingenude, 03 Glitter Beige in Originale, 08 Matte Brown in Noctam Brune and 05 Glitter Brown in Mauvie Star. The mattes perform very well when applied slightly damp as a liner, but the subtly shimmering Mauvie Star is my current favourite for an enhanced lid.

Bourjois Rouge Edition Lipstick

THE NEW ROUGE EDITION LIPSTICK / Pink Catwalk (left) and Fuchsia Sari (right) are my favourites of the new collection. The bullet is designed with an angled head to make lining and getting into corners easy, but I suspect that after a few uses this handy shape will be eroded. No matter, the colours are nice and formulas moisturising enough for the lipstick to sell anyway.
