I’m extremely fortunate to have great friends who indulge my weirdnesses in a variety of ways. They watch Elvis films with me, patiently reassure me that my throat cannot close up when I simply can’t bat the seemingly bizarre fear away myself, let me waffle on about the Edwardians, and declare my garlic-heavy pasta sauces to be delicious.
They allow one further kindness: every time one of them wanders into my make-up area, I make them up. Usually, they tell me how they’d like to look and I (hopefully) interpret their wishes correctly. Sometimes, they let me loose on their face without instruction. I cannot describe the joy that ensues my end when that’s the case – making up someone else and exploring how texture and colour looks on another sends me into a state of childish delight. Once done, if they’re extremely generous, they let me take photos.
Shireen, who blogs interiors and lifestyles over at Echo Mirth, let me doll her up AND got her pose on for me yesterday. She’s a keeper. Here’s what went on her face //
Bronzer / Chanel Soleil Tan de Chanel applied with the same Spectum Brush.
Highlighter / Burberry Fresh Glow Nude Radiance 01 on high points of cheeks.
Eyes / Chanel Illusion D’Ombre in Mirage on lids up to the crease line applied with Japonesque 230 eyeshadow brush. Under Shireen’s lower lash line I applied a thin line of Chanel Stylo Eyeshadow Fresh Effect Eyeshadow in 147 Caroube. Eyeliner flick with Zoeva Cream Eyeliner in Black Lace applied with Louise Young LY27 brush.
Mascara / Benefit They’re Real.
Brows / Burberry Effortless Eyebrow Definer in Ash Brown 03 – this is lighter than Shireen’s brows but I wanted to add a touch of bulk to sparse patches rather than fake hairs where they aren’t.
Lips / Tom Ford Lips & Boys in Jake.
