Off I trotted for a couple of weeks to research articles, work on videos, and roam around Venice/Salamanca, and on my return to my laptop I realised I’d neglected my responsibilities and not blogged about a fair few launches. Terribly remiss, I know. So as not to ignore my responsibilities any further, I’ve rounded up some that grabbed my attention… //
Benefit They’re Real Tinted Primer (launching in December for £15.50)/ I’m not the biggest They’re Real fan (the brush does nothing for my lashes), but I really like the tinted, lightweight, deep brown finish of this primer and that it contains conditioning B5. Coupled with a good mascara, it lends a bit of extra bulk, without the clumps that are the result of applying layers and layers of the stuff. On a side note, some of you may know I have a thing about the Victorian era and on occasion rather like to go for that minimal make-up/English rose/late 19th century look. If you’re into that sort of thing too (or, more likely, want to fake wearing no make-up), get this mascara – it’s virtually imperceptible but really helps to define eyes.
Sisley So Intense Deep Black Eyeliner / … And then there are days when I fancy channelling a little 1960s Bardot (this is part of why I love make-up – it affords such a wonderful opportunity to play). A flick is essential on such occasions, and this one by Sisley is my new favourite – it isn’t only a very, very black felt tip (I’ll happily use felt tips, brushes in ink pots and little hair dispensers, provided they distribute product evenly and look totally black when on), but it also contains peptides and other lovely lash-strengthening ingredients to help encourage growth while wearing.
Breast Cancer Awareness Month / I should’ve mentioned this much, much earlier but it totally escaped my attention. Naughty me – Breast Cancer Awareness month is a really good cause to support (and is also quite handy if you have a penchant for pink). My favourites of this year’s crop are this Clinique Berry Pop blusher that’s nowhere near as intense on cheeks as it looks in the pan, and these paler pink Invisibobble hairbands.
RMS The Ultimate Make-Up Remover Wipes / I know, I know – I hate wipes. I still do. Firmly. But I’m also aware that they are used and that RMS have therefore done a very good thing in formulating these wipes which are simply 100% natural and compostable rayon wipes soaked in 100% organic coconut oil. Deft sidestepping of nasty preservatives there, RMS. Yes, they still won’t remove all your make-up and make your skin clean in the way a proper cleanse will, but if you have to scratch at your face with wipes, none will do less damage…
Vita Liberata Trystal Minerals Self Tanning Bronzing Minerals / Ruddy genius: this bronzer not only mimics a tan in earnest (no orange or shimmer whatsoever), but it’ll also give you one while you wear it. Yep, buff this onto your skin, wear it all day as is par for the course, and it’ll mingle with whatever else you’ve got going on underneath it (moisturiser, foundation, light layer of grease) to activate the tanning element.
