I’m in a place of conflict about Christmas. Or, rather, I’m in a place of conflict about Christmas beauty launches. On the one hand, you see, it seems far too early for a traditionalist like me to broach it. On the other, I’d like you to have all the information you need before you hit the shops/internet to buy beauty. Rather than debate the matter mentally any further I’d like to turn it over to you: do you think it is too early to be reporting on Christmas releases? Let me know if you have any strong feelings either way under here or on twitter/facebook

Now that the admin’s out the way, I’ll get stuck in on the details of this epic giveaway I’m running with Macadamia Professional in the hope of giving one of you a wonderful head of hair over winter. Here’s how it came about – Macadamia Professional did the thing all brands do when they release something: send a press release, send a product, hope it gets on the right heads. I did the thing beauty writers usually do when they receive new stuff: give it a spray and sniff, read the release, put it into the ‘use next’ pile if it’s promising.

Hair GiveawayLots of products don’t make it past the next stage and into the writing bit – it’s a tough platform and one with a whole lot of contenders. You’ll understand why I was all enthusiasm to run a giveaway, then, when not one but every single one of the styling range containing nourishing macadamia and argan oil impressed. As a stoically lazy hair person (wash, whizz dry and ruffle is my preferred ‘styling’ process), I was delighted that each of these clearly did a different job – and did it well – as it has cut my deliberating time in half: when I want to remove grease, I use the dry shampoo; when I want texture, I use the texturising spray. And so on and so forth.

Macadamia Professional Weightless Moisture Shampoo / A softening shampoo that doesn’t weigh hair down.

Macadamia Professional Weightless Moisture Conditioner / Use in the ends of hair, preferably leaving in for a few minutes for maximum benefit.

Macadamia Professional Flex Hold Shaping Hairspray / Made to hold hair in place without any crunch, this is the one if you like your hair to still move once set.

Macadamia Professional Style Lock Strong Hold Hairspray / … But if you need more hold, opt for this instead.

Macadamia Professional Style Extend Dry Shampoo / Spray in hair before bed, make sure it’s distributed evenly in your roots and go to sleep – you’ll wake with hair that looks much cleaner and less chalky than if you use dry shampoo directly before you go out.

Macadamia Professional Anti-Humidity Finishing Spray / Prone to a bit of frizz as the night wears on? A spray of this will keep things under control. Also in its favour – it smells a bit like coconut ice-cream. Perfect if you’d like to waft enticingly by suitors at a Christmas party.

Macadamia Professional Tousled Texture Finishing Spray / An awful lot like Oribe’s Dry Texturising Spray in finish, this lends hair a bit of grit and movement that makes an artfully ruffled look very easy to achieve indeed.

Chuck your name, e-mail address and when you would like to see Christmas coverage start under this post. The winner will be picked and contacted on the e-mail address provided on Monday the 9th of November.
