Revolutions: big in make-up at the moment. The Tilbs did it. Revlon did it. Now Urban Decay have gone and started their own.
Plagiarism aside, the new range of Matte Revolution Lipsticks have really impressed me, despite being a little shy when it comes to the whole matte thing (matte, it’s a statement, isn’t it?).
First thing: formula. These stay put, but not in a cellophane tightly-stretched across lips way. They’re creamy, though over time – like all mattes – lose moisture, so use a dollop of lip balm every hour or so to avoid any tightness. Colour pay off is my favourite part – one coat (plus some tidying up with a lip liner) and you’re good to go.
The colours are also pretty good and cover most inclinations. My three favourites: 1993 (the perfect Clueless-era brown), Tilt (a bright that sits between red and orange), and Temper (a true brick red). Between them, I’m pretty much sorted until Christmas reds kick in. Have a peruse of the below swatches – I bet you’ll see one you like…
The Berries / l to r: Matte Blackmail, Matte After Dark and Matte Bittersweet
The Nudes / l to r: Matte Stark Naked and Matte 1993
