Rather like black, grey has been much maligned, with the byword for the unimaginative/bland being considered an uninspired choice in fashion. I’m of the opposite view – I like shades of grey and being enveloped in their flattering, soft-focus charms. As in the case of black, I think texture is key in making it interesting; distressed fabrics and licks of metallic or shimmer bring the hue to life.
On Boxing Day, I was bloated, tired and required at a luncheon, so I cracked out the flattering grey in the form of this big, blankety coat, a scarf and some matchy-matchy eyeshadow (not my usual vibe but it being Christmas and all I thought I’d whip a little grey glitter on my lids for the lols).
As I’d been last in the shower queue in our house and blending the shadow had taken a few extra minutes, I was left with very little time for hair so just twisted it into a hairband once blasted dry so it’d fall in nice, loose waves later in the day. Video on the technique is in the making – it’s a lifesaver if you’re strapped for time… //
