Two Make-Up Trends Worth Giving A Whirl

I’ve said it once, and I’ll say it again: crack out peachy make-up NOW. Fake tan a touch by all means or have a scrub with a (non granular) scrub if it’s been a while, but nothing will make you look more healthy than peachiness of skin. Were I shakeable in my opinion, I’d only need to check the below releases from the make-uposphere. The good people behind them and I clearly concur. Here’s how we want you to bring your face to life again as we segue into spring //

Zoeva Coral Blusher Palette Review

Warming Blush / Every beauty editors go-to when looking pallid, a whisper of blush danced over the cheeks works wonders. Two new palettes are out that celebrate my favourite shade:

Gwen Stefani Urban Decay Blush Palette / Six blushers/highlighters ranging from deep apricot (Lo-Fi), through to a raspberry shot through with shimmering tangerine (Easy), this palette is comprehensive and versatile. The highlighters are probably my favourite bit and cover all skin tones (I’m thinking Angel if you’re pale, Hush if you’re darker – both double up as eyeshadows). Don’t expect these to linger long in shops – make-up maven Gwen has a knack for creating the covetable.

Zoeva Coral Spectrum Blush Palette / Four blushers for the true lover of coral, there are pale, mid and deeper options in this one, along with a slightly shimmery pink/peach hybrid that’s a dupe for Nars Orgasm. Plaudits to Zoeva for yet another well-priced palette that doesn’t compromise on quality – these are some of the creamiest powder blushers you’ll find.

Perricone MD No Lipgloss Lipgloss & MAC Viva Glam Ariana Grande

Pretty Lipgloss / Back from the land of forbidden make-up, lipgloss is quickly outstripping matte lipsticks in popularity. I like them both, but I should add that I’ve never quite relinquished my hold on gloss: it makes lips look luscious, feel good (provided it isn’t sticky), and is just darn easy to slide on. Here are three good ‘your lips but better’ ‘uns:

Perricone MD No Lipgloss Lipgloss / Oh Perricone* knows how to get me going: not only is this the perfect English rose ‘I’ve been walking among the heathers and had a smooch with Willoughby/Heathcliff’ deep pink, but it also nourishes lips with a cocktail of peptides and vitamin E. Add the non-chemical SPF 15 in to protect lips from sun damage and I’m done. But then again…

Estee Lauder Sculpting Gloss & Lacquer in Heartbreaker / Like a bit more lacquer? Don’t we all. Step in this one, which will give you an intense whack of colour (you won’t need a lipstick underneath) and a vinyl finish that makes me think of chic women of the riviera. This is a good thing, Estee Lauder people.

MAC Viva Glam Ariana Grande Lipglass / The sweetest of the new offerings, this gloss has little shimmering pinky particles in it that don’t show up on lips, but rather make them look more voluminous. Perfect if you suffer from lots of cracks. Oh, and every penny goes to the very brilliant MAC Aids Fund (read about it here).

* FYI there’s a spectacular Perricone make-up set going here for £85 – I can vouch for every single item in the bag and cannot more highly recommend that you treat yourself to it all immediately.
