Cosmetically, I’m the worst sort of person. There I am with my rules and my feelings (oh so many feelings) about how things should be done, and out comes the sun and in one bright spell, everything changes.
Sunny weekends in London are well-known for producing such an effect on we inhabitants; sun-starved by May, we long to bare our etiolated limbs and do so with the slightest provocation. For most of us* this act of unveiling requires bronzing – even if like me you balk at looking ‘fake tanned’.
This weekend I did just that – the limb-baring thing. It wasn’t quite as horrifying as it might’ve been, partly because I’d caught a little sneaky sun in Greece earlier in the month and mostly, if I’m being honest, because I switched my morning moisturiser to Decleor Aroma Confort Gradual Glow Hydrating Body Milk as soon as I got back.
This Decleor number has three charms that I’ve yet to find elsewhere. First, it really does impart a glowy rather than sludgy bronze which, remarkably given my appalling fake tanning skills, I’ve yet to apply streaky. Next, it doesn’t dry skin out like most fake tans – it is slightly buttery and really nourishing (ingredients include magnolia essential oil and meadow foam oil). The final thing that cemented this one’s place in my hall of fame was the scent: summer in a bottle. Pick it up and you’ll see what I mean.
* Of course there are some lucky women who look goddess-like with lilied limbs. Think Cate Blanchett, Liv Tyler or Lily Cole. These women needn’t enter the fake tan fray. I wish I could count myself among their ranks but I’m afraid I simply can’t – I need the fake tan help. Most of us need the fake tan help.
