Meet The SPF-Containing Base You’ll Actually Want To Wear

Tweet | Facebook | Email

I’m not a big ‘make-up on the morning dog walk’ person – mostly because time before work is scant and when a dog’s gotta go, he’s gotta go. I do, however, always slap on a touch of base, usually one containing SPF so things are made simple and speedy. Loads of brilliant ones are on the market at the moment, but three are currently on rotation this end – this RMK number and these //

Omorovicza Complexion Perfector SPF 20

Omorovicza Complexion Perfector SPF 20

This is buttery and rich – almost like a dollop of moisturiser containing pigment. In actuality, it is precisely that –  packed with emollients and skin soothers, this contains physical sunscreens so is the one to turn to when you need a whole lot of coverage (it won’t cover proper spots), or when skin is blotchy or sensitised. It might not be the best option if you’re going to be photographed with a flash on (the sunscreen particles can be reflective), but for a day-to-day doing the errands while absorbing nourishment base, it’s great.

Would Suit / More mature skin, very dry skin, sensitised skin, those with pigmentation issues.

The Packaging / The glass bottle makes this impractical for travel, though it looks great on a dressing table and the pump is hygienic and dispenses just the right amount.

Other Notes / Not cheap, but has the skincare chops to justify the price (and also you get 50ml which should last at least 4 months).

Dior Hydra Life Water BB Review

Dior Hydra Life Water BB Moisturizing Tinted Aqua-Gel SPF 30 / The word ‘glaze’ springs to mind whenever I smooth this on – it has that sheer, second-skin thing going on. This will cover a little more than the Omorovicza one and is nowhere near as creamy so makes for a good base if I’m heading into the big smoke for meetings. If you want extra coverage in areas (though, again, you’ll need to conceal spots separately), just go back with a second layer.

Would Suit / Oilier complexions, those seeking more of a traditional ‘foundation’.

The Packaging / This is an ideal ‘sling in your handbag’ base – the plastic bottle doesn’t leak and is really lightweight.

Other Notes / I powder this down slightly but if you’re not very greasy it looks great just left a little luminous (it’s not shiny once dry, just a little sheeny, like ‘healthy skin’).
