We need to talk about base. I’ve recently been made aware of the fact that my attitude towards perfecting skin isn’t commonplace. Apparently most women prefer to opt for a single product, two at the most, using it all over (this would explain the rise of the does-it-all BB). Not I; I like to use a variety of products sparingly, popping a unifying veil, concealer and mineral powder only where needed to bring skin to life.
Granted, my approach takes longer (and the outlay is undeniably initially more expensive), but I’m not alone – make-up artists often tell me that this is how they work, applying a smidgen of this and a dash of that until blemishes are concealer and bone structure enhanced.
This is a round the houses way of my apologising for the first quarter of this video being entirely devoted to making my tired old skin look better. After that, things heat up – I’m talking juicy lip colours and eyeshadow applied with my finger (shock horror – I’d forgotten my brushes). So fast forward to that bit if you’re among the one product clan. Though, trust me, you really do need five plus base products. But then I would say that… //
