I’m not going to bang my old SPF drum yet again in this post. Suffice to say if you’re not using it, you’re a bit of a fool and need to get some ASAP (yes, I know we’re at the tail end of summer but SPF should be a year-round thing if you’re keen on avoiding a face full of age spots and dehydrated furrows)…

Alpha H have very kindly offered some encouragement to two of you in the form of this giveaway. Containing three SPFs, their hero Liquid Gold and a mask that’ll help undo any damage you’ve accrued over the summer, this set should keep your skin protected for a good few months…

Alpha H SPF Review

First in the giveaway: two SPFs. Alpha H Daily Essential Moisturiser SPF 50+ is matte once settled on the skin (this takes a minute or two), so is an ideal prep if you find yourself getting greasy out in the sun or want to put foundation on top. It also contains vitamin E and aloe vera to keep skin hydrated throughout wear.

Alpha H Protection Plus Daily SPF 50+ is a slightly different beast – the colour you see in the above swatch ends up as a light wash – think colour corrector and you’re on the right track. It’s non-greasy and makes for a good primer, as well as really providing a whammy of antioxidants and replenishing ingredients. I’d personally use this one on a day-to-day basis in the city and the above moisturiser when ‘sunbathing’ properly.

Alpha H Protection Plus Hand Cream SPF 50+ is a firm favourite this end – hands often start to look haggard after exposure to the sun and, as I apply hand cream as a matter of habit, if I have this in my handbag I’m content in the knowledge that I’m batting off both dehydration and sun damage in one fell swoop. I’d suggest doing the same – especially if you’re outdoorsy.

Damage already done? Step in Alpha H Liquid Gold Smoothing and Perfecting Mask with Lavender. The glycolic acid will help to slough away brown marks and make the surface more smooth, while the plant oils and honey will nourish. Remember to apply it to your décolletage too.

The final product is less sun-specific but I felt that it would be criminal to run an Alpha H giveaway without including their famed Liquid Gold. A swipe of the glycolic acid-rich toner after cleansing at night will help to loosen the bonds between dead skin, kicking the renewal process into gear and allowing for gentle exfoliation. It also helps to reduce spot-forming bacteria, so can be used on pretty much all complexions bar very sensitive.
